New firmware for Canon\'s Cinema cameras + Dual Pixel AF upgrade for C300!


New firmware for Canon’s Cinema cameras


Canon has announced an update to the firmwares of its Cinema camera’s range. Additionally they have added a optional feature upgrade for the EOS C300, bringing support for Canon’s Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus technology to the entire line of Canon EF lenses.


The optional update for the C300 is expected to be available in May 2014 . It’s set to cost of $500.00 and will require the EOS C300 camera body to be shipped to an authorised Canon service centre for installation.


Additionally Canon have  announced the new RC-V100 remote control for Cinema EOS cameras and a welcomed continuous recording function for the EOS C100.


Below is the general timeline of the feature upgrades and firmware updates:


  • Dual Pixel CMOS AF, EOS C300  May 2014

  • Support for RC-V100, EOS C500 – EOS C300 – EOS C100  – XF305 – XF300 June 2014

  • Peripheral Illumination Correction Lens Additions, EOS C500 – EOS C300 – EOS C100 June 2014

  • Continuous Recording, EOS C100 Feb. 2014
