Filmmakers (and Film Fans) Must Read: Cool Gear for Filmmakers at CES


1. Best Filmmaking Tools at CES: The CES expo floor officially opened for business yesterday with every company touting their product as “revolutionary” and “game-changing.” Ginormous HD TVs fill the Las Vegas Convention Center, alongside smart cars, 3D printers and every sort of wearable tech imaginable. But if you’re looking for the latest and greatest gear for filmmakers at this year’s CES, look no further. We’ve got a list of 7 must-have gear for filmmakers we discovered at CES 2014. 2. More CES News: Sony Computer Entertainment announced a new cloud-based TV service launching in the U.S. this year, which will combine live TV with VOD. Sony also announced Playstation Now, a new streaming game service, which will “introduce the world of Playstation to non-console owners via smartphones, tablets and other devices,” according to Andrew House, the president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. “For first time ever, you can play blockbuster PS3 titles on a mobile phone.”


3. Hulu Originals: Hulu announced its 2014 slate of original programming today, including a supernatural comedy starring Tyler Labine (“Reaper”), a reality TV satire starring Casey Wilson (“Happy Endings”) and the U.S. premiere of the original Scandinavian version of “The Bridge,” which was adapted into an American series by FX in 2013.
