Nokia says “Goodbye DSLR” in New Lumia 1020 Ad

Nokia says “Goodbye DSLR” in New Lumia 1020 Ad

So apparently it’s now “on trend” to bash the DSLR.

Panasonic are at it: See Here

And now Nokia has joined the war with its Lumia 1020 smartphones advert. The latest commercial from the phone manufacture is making fun of “massive DSLRs” and suggesting that a 41MP Nokia Lumia 1020 can get the same or better shot.

The ad shows photographers with a DSLR body (and a massive 400mm-ish telephoto lens attached) handing the combo off to a stranger to “grab a shot” of the photographer in front of a landmark.

Unfortunately we can’t help but cringe when we watch this. On one hand they create a product aimed at people who clearly care about capturing good photos, yet they create an advert assuming that customers know nothing about what a DSLR is made to do.  Maybe a more powerful angle would have been on the co existence of a smart phone camera and a DSLR.

Sorry Nokia but this is making you look a bit silly.
