Panasonic 4K LCD Monitor Supports Cinema & Broadcast Workflows

The new Panasonic BT-4LH310E 787.4mm, or 31 inch, 4K LCD Professional Reference Monitor is designed for 4K monitoring in the field, use in an edit room or on set to support broadcast and cinema productions. It can be used as a reference monitor in a post environment or as an HD monitor. The strong frame allows it to be taken out on set.  Its Focus-in-Red and Zoom functions can assist precise focusing when shooting with a 4K, 2K or HD camera.

It has a 4096 x 2160 resolution 10-bit horizontally-aligned IPS LCD panel with contrast at 1450:1 and 178° vertical/horizontal viewing angles, and is suitable for 4K 4096 x 2160, QFHD 3840 x 2160, 2K, HD and SD workflows.

The BT-4LH310E supports DCI-P3 colour space, which is defined by more than 96 per cent coverage of DCI-P3, and works in a digital cinema workflow with a LUT upload function. The BT-4LH310E can also accurately display industry standard colour space with coverage for ITU-R BT.709, EBU and SMPTE-C.

The BT-4LH310E’s natural colour reproduction uses a colour palette of up to 1.07 billion colours combined with a 3D LUT function. The 3D LUT has six-pole colour correction with a look-up table for each signal level, applying 12-bit image processing to each of the RGB colours to balance the six coordinate axes of the three primary colours, RGB, and their complementary colours, CMY. This process resolves colour drifting at low light levels.

Other characteristics of the BT-4LH310E are the aluminium frame, multiple inputs 3G/HD-SDI with BNC x 4 active loop-through, HDMI 1.4a, Display Port 1.1, HD/SD closed captioning, 240VAC/24VDC – 28VDC operation and remote terminals RS-232C and RS-485  – in order to match varied system configuration requirements.

The monitor incorporates field-production assist functions including a Y-Map display making it easier to confirm luminance level map, a Zebra display, an SDI error status indication; waveform and vectorscope display, a quad split display and a simultaneous multi-display of input signal.

When used with 4K cameras, users also have focus-in-red and zoom focus assist functions. Other tools include pixel-to-pixel mapping, a colour audio level meter, worldwide 59.94/50Hz compatibility, VESA screws for mounting and a supplied stand.
