Filmmaker Joey Shanks has released his latest instructional video on how to use Front Screen Projection, the technique Stanley Kubrick used for the “Dawn of Man” segment of his masterpiece “2001: A Space Odyssey”.
The effect allows for an extraordinary deep focus that Shanks remarks “you could never achieve if filmed on location.” Now largely replaced by Green Screen, it nonetheless remains an impressive technique that gives a far more tactile feeling than its modern counterpart.
