Politics aren’t really our thing at Perform Video but we couldn’t help but notice this update from China.

It’s been reported that China’s State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, film and Television (SARFT) it set to ban anonymous video uploading to the internet. Under the new rules the 428 million users of sites like Youku, Tudou and Renren will have to register their real names first. According to Reuters, SARFT wants to “prevent vulgar content, base art forms, exaggerated violence and sexual content in Internet video having a negative effect on society,” although the new law will also prevent anonymous Internet users from uploading video content critical of the Communist Party.
